About Me
Ever since I can remember I have made Art. My Dad was an Artist and Graphic Designer who, together with gifted teachers, encouraged me to make art and to develop an individual view of the world; to develop originality, make work that is entirely my own. The majority of my work originates from the Natural Environment; I only wish that my drawings could be as big as the open air. And, of course, without my wife, Dorothy’s support, all this would have been very difficult to achieve.
Embers...
Me and my family lived in Australia during 1995, where I did a teacher exchange at a school north of Brisbane where I taught Art.
The Embers series of images arose out of seeing, hearing and smelling bushfires lit by the indigenous peoples of the Northern Territories in Australia, in bushland off the Kakadu Highway: Jabiru National Park.
The fires cleansed the land of debris, dead leaves, fallen branches and tree bark, creating space and time for new growth and revitalisation. The gentle breezes developed patterns and forms and spirals in the smoke; the ash left behind being a carbon copy of its previous state (in my dreams).
